Obama Goes Over the Edge

I believe President Barack Obama has gone over the edge.

The pressures of the job have been too much for him. He's 'lost it'. His ability to make sound reasonable judgements has been damaged by a kind of hidden hysteria that he's done a good job of cloaking under his famous 'cool' but that has taken a big toll on his reasoning abilities.

At least, that seems the most kind diagnoses of why this presumed Democratic President has gone over whole-hog to the Republicuhn Cause without even a nod to Democratic (or democratic) values & positions.

After yet another "meeting with the Republican leadership" in the little boys room last week to discuss "the budget deficit", Obama emerged to make this statement: "Government has to start living within its means, just like families do. We have to cut the spending we can't afford so we can put the economy on sounder footing, and give our businesses the confidence they need to grow & create jobs."

Those words could have been spoken by Newt Gingrich, John Boehner, Tim Cantor, or any other neo-con Republicuhn. But they weren't. They were spoken by a "Centrist" Democratic President who has been moving to the Right since he took office two & a half years ago and has taken a "giant leap" for neo-cons in the past week.

Paul Krugman notes that this statement contains "three of the right's favorite economic fallacies in just two sentences. No, the government shouldn't budget the way families do...spending cuts right now wouldn't 'put the economy on a sounder footing'...And...businesses aren't holding back because they lack confidence; they're holding back because they don't have enough customers."
....Because Working Americans, many of whom aren't working now, don't have enough money or enough "confidence" in President Obama's leadership or the government policies he's endorsing to "Go Shopping", as former President George W. Bush advised.

All polls for the past 2 years have shown that 70-80% of the American People want to "raise taxes on the rich & save public programs", like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Education, Pell Grants, Food Aid programs, Safety & Security (police, firefighters, EMT's, etc.).

Surely Democrats, veteran poll watchers & triangulaters, know about this & have informed the President? Surely the President of the United States is aware of what polls overwhelmingly his People want? Surely!

Which leaves us to assume that he's either ignoring US; he doesn't give a damn about what WE want because he has a different agenda; or....he's lost it. The President has gone "Crazy.... Toys in the attic he is Crazy...."

Worse ideas are floating around. LIke the one about Barack Obama has Always been secretly a Republicuhn & "stole" the election by just "pretending" to be a liberal Democrat. Or that Barack Obama has simply "sold out". Or that he's "become enthralled with" the very charming & convincing neo-cons, who hold Positions of power & privilege that he's always yearned for & will never have. Or, he just had bad advisors all along who never gave a damn about what People wanted & just wanted to WIN!WIN!WIN! elections, anyway anyhow.

Maybe 'six of one & a half dozen of the other' have influenced Obama's mind boggling anti-Progressive decisions since taking office, after running one of the most Progressive campaigns in history. (No. We didn't just "imagine" he made those promises. It's all recorded. He made those promises!)

And I do think that he's become "enthralled" with the arrogantly assumed Power & Prestige, Wealth & Worldliness of Republicuhns & their Corporate Masters. I think that poor mixed race kid who had to work his butt off to get to Harvard & succeed there Wants that gloriously gilded status & standing that Republicuhns so "audaciously" exhibit. Not just for himself but for his whole African American family!

The sad part is that he could get it. It was all but handed to him when the People of this nation voted Overwhelmingly to put Barack Hussein Obama & his African American family in the White House! It was all his. But he didn't see it, couldn't grasp it, & tossed it away like a greasy burger wrapper for the glittering "appearance" of the Wealth & Power neo-cons wield.

And they Con-ned him, of course, as they do everyone who doesn't have a strong moral foundation to stand on & stand up to the sickeningly immoral agenda the Cons practice....simply put: "All for Me & None for You!" (nyahhahahahaha....)

But I think this very schism in Barack Obama's personal leanings helped crack his cosmic egg...& drive him right over the edge of sanity into fully irrational-crazy mode. Because his past shows him as a basically moral man who cared about the people of his community. Which clashes vehemently with the neo-con he's become.

The question now is: What are We-the-People going to do about this?!?!?
